I followed your instructions to try and fix it, but when I went to the device manager to find mulitmedia audio device, I couldn’t find it, it didn’t exist in any list. I tend to ignore it because I do not use my dvd player so much. It appears that this is a very common problem. Select this option and it will reinstall and the problem should be fixed. I’m running W7 UL
